On December 31, Netflix released the final episode of the Duffer Brothers web series Stranger Things. The app gave up on followers even as they curled up at home to watch the over two-hour episode that concluded a ten-year odyssey, which led to a meme frenzy on X (previously Twitter). Better still? This was what some fans had anticipated.

Fans express rage on social media

Many fans posted things like, "Wanna bet Netflix crashes again?" on X prior to the Stranger Things finale's release on Netflix on New Year's Eve. and "I beg you, Netflix, don't crash." However, they weren't so fortunate since, as was to be expected, the app briefly failed as soon as they logged in to watch the show.

One fan even offered a Stranger Things-related explanation, saying, "Netflix crashed for users due to the Stranger Things 5 finale." Vecna only broke the Netflix login page, not the entire world.
