Thoovanathumbikal (1980): Recently, this Malayalam movie made it to the eight spot of IBN Live's list of the greatest Indian movies of all time.

It tells a story of love and longing, set in rain-soaked Kerala. It tells the story of a man (Jayakrishnan) torn between the two loves of his life - a distant cousin (Radha) to whom he is betrothed and a prostitute (Clara), whom he falls in love with.

Mumbai monsoon special: Reign in the rains

Sweet home alabama (2002): A kiss in the rain is the ultimate high for any romance buff, but it's even sweeter when the couple is rediscovering their love for each other, the way it happens in this 2002 movie. You will find yourself sighing with joy when Melanie, in a tattered wedding dress, kisses Jake in the pouring rain.

Raincoat (2004): It's a gloomy rainy evening when former lovers, Manu and Neerja, played by Ajay Devgn and Aishwarya Rai, meet again, only to realise the truth about each other's miserable lives. Devgn's raincoat plays a major part in the journey.

The Day After Tomorrow (2004):

The film is based on the ill effects of global warming. While many of us crib about the weather and the difficulties it brings along with it, on watching the film you realise that there are bigger issues the world has to deal with.

Little Children (2006): The film doesn't revolve around rain. However, we do find Kate Winslet stuck at home in parts since its raining outside. Winslet's naughty and funny encounters in the laundry room along with implausibilities and the absurdities her life goes through, make it one of her best works.
