Watch Commedia Dell'Arte this Sunday, as Deepal Doshi, director of the play, A Tale of Two Treaties brings the 16th century theatrical style to town. "I have performed this show in Sweden, Washington DC, Chicago, Mumbai, Bali and Canada and the one thing I have experienced in all these shows is that an audience, irrespective of what socio-cultural background they come from, is engaged and entertained when authentic comedy happens in that shared time and space between them and the performer. I am excited to take the Pune audience on a wild ride with A Tale Of Two Treaties."

The Mumbai-born play director admits that this will be the first time she will perform here. Speaking further, she shares that most of her memories were of spending her summer vacations here and having fun - something she hopes the Punekaris will also have this Sunday.

Commedia dell'Arte translates as comedy of craft referring to the fact that for the first time the performances were done by professional actors who had perfected a specific role as opposed to amateurs. The style of Commedia is characterised by the use of masks, improvisation, physical comedy, and grotesque humour.

Doshi relates, "I am not sure but this might be the first Commedia Dell'Arte show happening in Pune in the last few decades. Moreover the show in Arc Asia is not just a performance but an entire evening of great food, great wine and a wild theatrical experience."

The play promises immense talent on stage as one actor will bring ten masks to life in one comic piece. The themes range from greed for money, to lasciviousness as well as revenge.
