Global toy and entertainment company Mattel, Inc, has created a Venus Williams Barbie doll, as a part of its Inspiring Women collection. It is also the first doll to be released in India, celebrating the tennis icon, who is not only an entrepreneur but also known to be an advocate for equal pay.

The Venus Williams Inspiring Women doll wears a white tennis outfit from her 2007 Grand Slam victory, a win that also marked her historic push for equal prize money for women at top-level tournaments. The look is completed with accessories inspired by that moment, including a green gem necklace, wristband, visor, racket, and ball -- all recreated identically with Venus to highlight the moment.

This doll marks the debut of the series in the Indian market, paying tribute to remarkable women whose achievements have changed history and inspired generations.

Launched globally in 2018, the series pays tribute to both historical and modern-day role models from around the world, including Dr. Maya Angelou, Madam C.J. Walker, Frida Kahlo, Amelia Earhart, and fashion designer Anna Sui. Each doll features authentic clothing, unique accessories, and educational information about the honoree's contributions.

The Inspiring Women Series was started with the aim to continue the legacy of honouring real-life role models from across the world - courageous women who took risks, broke barriers, and showed girls they can be anything, and Williams is one of many in recent times to showcase these unique qualities.

In fact, the tennis legend recently came out of retirement to play in the DC Open and the Cincinnati Open, and has also received a wildcard entry to compete in the US Open 2025 later this year. Being one of the towering figures in women's tennis, she has left an important mark on younger tennis players aspiring to pursue tennis in the future, and the story of the Williams sisters is one that continues to inspire many.
