Rani Lakshmibai

Manikarnika Tambe, famously known as Rani Lakshmibai, was born in 1828, in Varanasi. Revered as the 'Queen of Jhansi,' she emerged as one of the fiercest leaders of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against the British East India Company.

During the siege of Jhansi and later in the battles at Kalpi and Gwalior, she fought with extraordinary courage. Although the exact details of her death remain debated, every historical account concludes that she died on the battlefield, defending her motherland.

Even after nearly 150 years, Rani Lakshmibai stands tall as a symbol of resistance and patriotism, a timeless inspiration for generations of Indians.

Indira Gandhi

Born in 1917, Indira Gandhi became India's first and only female Prime Minister. She served as the third PM of the country and remains the second longest-serving Prime Minister after her father, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Her leadership was marked by bold decisions and significant political milestones. She was assassinated on October 31, 1984, by her two Sikh bodyguards.

To this day, she stands as a powerful figure representing Indian women in leadership, courage under adversity, and political decisiveness.

Sushmita Sen

Born in 1975, Sushmita Sen made history in 1994 when she became the first Indian woman to be crowned Miss Universe. At just 18, she brought global recognition to India and inspired generations of young women to pursue their dreams fearlessly.

Post her pageant win, Sushmita entered the film industry and engaged in philanthropic work, supporting women's empowerment, child welfare, and LGBTQ+ rights through awareness campaigns and her involvement with various NGOs. Sen continues to be celebrated as a symbol of strength and self-made success.

This year also marks her 50th birthday, making the day a bit more special.
