Keeping to their word, Banyan Tree, organisers of the fest, is hosting a special performance featuring the Chisti Brothers. Led by Salim Chisti, the Qawwal group belongs to the Chistiya school of Sufi music in India. According to many scholars, it is the Chisti order that first created Qawwali as a form.
On the following day, look out for the Mumbai edition of Dakshinayan, its annual Carnatic Music Festival conceptualised with the idea to celebrate and promote Carnatic Music in North India. This edition of the festival will feature a violin duet by R Ganesh and R Kumaresh, whose works feature traditional as well as contemporary compositions and vocals by award-winning performer, Sanjay Subrahmanyam.
