Birth and family
Piyush was born in Jaipur in 1955 in a family of nine siblings including film director Prasoon Pandey and singer-actor Ila Arun.

He studied at St Xavier's College in Jaipur, and Post Graduate in History from St Stephen's College in Delhi.

The adman also made Mumbai his home while living in Mahim

Represented Rajasthan Ranji Trophy team
Piyush Pandey has represented the Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy in 1977 and 1979. He featured in the tournament as a wicketkeeper-batsman playing five matches for the western state. The former right-handed batsman had accumulated 105 runs, with his top score being 28

Advertising career 
Pandey began his journey in advertising when he joined Ogilvy in 1982. Three years later he was promoted to creative director, and then to national creative director.

He was also the Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Worldwide of Ogilvy

Most iconic advertising campaigns
Pandey has created some of the most memorable advertisements in Indian history like 'Kuch Khaas Hai Zindagi Mein' for Cadbury Dairy Milk featuring the dancing girl, Asian Paints' 'Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai', and the cute 'ZooZoo' characters for Vodafone. He also spearheaded public service campaigns like the 'Do Boond Zindagi Ke' Polio Abhiyaan with Amitabh Bachchan.

On the political front, he helped craft one of India’s most memorable political slogans for BJP's 2014 election campaign with “Ab ki baar, Modi sarkar”

Awards and books 
Pandey has not only the recipient of the LIA Legend Award but also the coveted Padma Shri, which he received in 2016. 

Additionally, he has also written important books on Indian advertising including Pandeymonium: Piyush Pandey on Advertising" and "The Making of a Brand: Asian Paints"
