'My friends say a guy and girl can't be friends'

I have been friends with a girl for a long time and my male friends believe we should get into a relationship. I have tried to explain that we are happy just being friends, but they say it is impossible to be friends with someone of the opposite sex. Are they correct? I prefer being friends with her.
Your friends sound like they have a collective IQ of 9. They should be politicians. If you don't want to get into a relationship with someone, you shouldn't have to just because your friends believe you should. Also, they have conveniently ignored the possibility that the girl you mention may not want to be in a relationship either. If the two of you like being friends and have a good time when you are both together, that's the best thing you can ask for. Also, everyone needs more friends from the opposite sex, simply because it opens up your worldview and helps you understand life a little better. Try explaining that to your friends some time.
