He's not sexist, but his forwards are. What's real?

Here's Dr Love, who solves your relationship riddles in a confusing digital age

I hate the forwarded messages my boyfriend sends me on WhatsApp. They are always sexual, and make me feel like a commodity. He's not a sexist guy, so these messages confuse me. Is he hiding his true nature from me?
You are the best judge of that, and you should base your assumptions on what he's like in real life, not on his immature forwards. WhatsApp tends to encourage everything from the inane to the downright abusive, because it's easy to use that 'Forward' icon. If you don't like the messages he sends, he needs to know this and stop. If he respects you, he will. He also needs to understand why it's inappropriate to send such messages to anyone, and not just his girlfriend.

What can I do to convince my boyfriend that I want to spend the rest of my life with him? We have been together for a year-and-a-half now, but whenever I mention the possibility of some kind of commitment, he simply laughs it off and asks me to give it more time. He was in a serious relationship for four years before he met me, and I don't know if that has put him off the idea of a serious relationship, which is unfair because I am nothing like his ex-girlfriend. What can I do to change the way he looks at me?
There are too many assumptions being made here. You assume he doesn't want to commit to you because of his ex-girlfriend. You assume he doesn't take this seriously. You assume his earlier relationship has scarred him. Maybe he just needs a little more time and doesn't think you are both at a stage where things need to be where you think they should. Why not forget about what you want to do in the future and simply focus on the present, and the fact that he is your boyfriend at this moment in time? Things happen when they will; you can't force a relationship.
