'Our parents didn't need WhatsApp, why do you?'

I refuse to download apps like WhatsApp because I think they are a waste of time. My boyfriend says it will make our relationship stronger though, because we will be able to chat all the time and exchange pictures as well. What should I do?

This is such a first world problem. Technology has its pros and cons. Our parents had strong relationships without smart phones, so don't over think this.

I have been chatting with a guy I met on Facebook a few months ago. He seems nice, friendly, polite, but he wants to know more about my personal life than I am comfortable with. He emails me now, with questions about my siblings and childhood and I don't answer all his questions. He seems comfortable talking about any aspect of his life, but I don't like it. I don't want to seem rude though, because he really is a nice person and we may get to be more than just friends at some point, if this goes on. What should I do?

Some people are open about things, others are not. Some people like discussing what they ate for lunch on Facebook, others find this inane. Your personal life really is no one's business though. If you're not comfortable talking about something, you have every right not to. This isn't even someone you know in real life. How can you open up about yourself to a complete stranger? I suggest you figure out whether or not he can be your friend or something more only after you actually meet and chat with each other in person a couple of times. Anyone can be kind and friendly online; it's behaviour in the real world that counts. To open up about your past and your personal issues to someone you have never met is naive. Don't worry about how he will react to your responses; worry instead about why you choose to have a relationship of this sort with someone you don't know at all.
