How do you tell your boyfriend he has bad breath without offending him?

How do you tell your boyfriend he has bad breath without offending him?

You tell him openly and honestly because that's what people in a relationship expect from one another. What option do you have anyway? If you don't, you're the one who has to kiss him, so why wait?

I am from Mumbai and like a guy from Karnataka. We became friends on Instagram, but haven't met yet. I have found him to be different from most guys. He is honest, keeps his promises and has good values. We have talked about our feelings and he says he likes me, but hasn't professed to being in love with me yet. We talk daily or chat online whenever our college assignments leave us with a bit of spare time. Our families know about our friendship and we are planning to meet soon. The thing is, he is usually stressed or irritated when confronted with a particular situation. I sometimes avoid rude replies considering his stressful state, but don't think I can take it much longer. I feel as if I should avoid speaking to him when he behaves like this, but I really want to help him cope. How can I do this? Should I simply not speak to him until he calms down? - Krupa T

I don't know what the situation is, so I really can't comment. What I would say, however, is that getting to know a person without meeting them face to face is difficult. If you want to help him, and understand the way he feels, you simply have to spend more time with him offline. We adopt personas online, whether we like to or not, so the only way you can get to any sort of relationship with this man is by meeting him and figuring out if you can find common ground. Without that, trying to help him deal with a stressful situation will be difficult for you to do. Not speaking to him is not the solution.
