An exhibition in the Capital gives you a glimpse at what the Indian film industry has undergone in the last decade

A work by Roy Thomas;A total of 40 artists are displaying 50 works that include sculptures, paintings and videos. For the show, artists were made to choose from about 20-25 movies, including some Kannada movies. Different movies were given to different artists to avoid a clash in their works.
Sanjay Verma's DonThe exhibition endeavours to portray the varied changes that Bollywood has seen in the last decade when it has moved on from the typical hero thrashes villain and girl-meets-boy romance to item numbers, gay relationships, thought-provoking scripts and comic capers.
Venkat Bothsa has done five fibre-glass sculptures which are busts of women all of which have different movie imagery. "I like the subject because of the colours and the contemporary appeal. Whatever looked good to me I have put it on colour," he says. He watched movies like Chini Kam and Robot among others.
Bollywood's trends of copying movies from elsewhere and its leap to Hollywood was what got artist Saptarshi Naskar going. "I have shown both the positive and negative aspects of Bollywood," he says. So Slumdog Millionaire meets Jeff Koon's famous sculpture Balloon Dog in his works.
There are other works by artists like Snehashish Maity whose 3 Idiots looks inwards at his own culture of Kalighat and finds himself humorously stuck in it. Also displaying are the likes of Gigi Scaria, G.R. Iranna, Riyas Komu among others. Head to the gallery for more.
