Picture this: It's the start of the week and your schedule is packed with deadlines and meetings. You gaze at your planner with a Superman / Manchester United logo etched on every page. That done, you move on to make a list on a memo crafted with pirate ships or a favourite cartoon character. You smile. These little quirks might actually help you make it through the crazy day.

Baroque by Kavita Dharnidharka (24) is a brand that custom-makes theme-based stationery products ranging from gift tags and diaries, to envelopes, folders, pen stands, bulletin boards, photo frames and visiting cards. So, whether it is bikes, funky geometric designs, angels, superhero regulars like Batman and Superman, Mickey Mouse or even a city skyline that brings out your creative streak, she will reproduce it on the specified surface, just for you.

She also custom-makes products using photographs to which she adds funky pop art elements.
"I started out by helping my maternal aunts, Shilpa Saraf and Shikha Munim, who taught me the ropes. Now, they focus on the creative aspect of the products while I stick to the execution," says Kavita. The idea behind the name emerged from Kavita's fascination with the European Baroque style of art that prevailed in the late 16th century across most of Europe. It was all about dynamism, she adds.

Not just for girls
The brand is targetted at men and women. Look closer, and you will spot several designs dedicated to Formula One car racing and football teams from the English Premiere League. "I had made a superhero stationery set for my cousins,u00a0 who loved it. That's when I decided to have more guy-oriented themes," she shares.

Kavita adds that the process of making the products involves screen-printing (for ethnic designs) and block printing (for modern designs). She's particularly excited about her range for the festive season -- "it includes traditional gift wraps and cards with pictures of diyas and gods and goddesses."
