As part of the India Design Week series, Adrienne Thadani of Fresh and Local recently conducted a workshop on self-sustaining garden containers
Fresh and Local, an organisation that works towards promoting urban farming, conducted a workshop called Permaculture in a Box, a one-hour session that taught participants how to create self-sustaining garden containers for the urban environment. The workshop covered various basics of creating a container garden.
Here are a few tips by Thadani:
> Various objects can be used as containers. My favourite is a cane basket, which looks beautiful, is easily available and can be turned to compost later.
>Make use of your kitchen waste for composting.
>As compared to the weather abroad, Mumbai's weather is great for composting. One can try composting on a smaller scale because of the heat.
