YouTube has introduced a new feature for users possessing smartphones with smaller screens. The YouTube app's latest version contains a feature, which will allow them to fast forward or rewind a video in 10 seconds.

This will enable users with small screen smartphones to navigate while watching videos more easily. All they have to do is double tap the screen on the right to fast forward and on the left to rewind.

The feature is available on iOS and Android versions of the YouTube app. The functionality can also be used in fullscreen mode once the app is updated.

However, this latest feature has not been rolled out for all devices and YouTube plans to gradually release it to all in due course of time.

Earlier, YouTube had announced higher resolution support for smaller smartphones.

Apart from this, YouTube's latest update lets users control videos from the lock screen while casting to smart TVs, Chromecast devices and other secondary displays. Additionally, shortcut buttons for playing and pausing videos, Previous/Next and volume controls on the lock screen and Control Centre on iOS have also been introduced. A similar YouTube update has been rolled out to Apple Watch users.

Smartphones with 4.7-inch screens were allowed to support videos upto 1440p in YouTube's last update, which was only possible on iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 7. Now, users with smartphones that have 4-inch and above displays can view full HD and Quad HD resolution videos.
