From ad films to television shows and now web series, Reeva Chaudhary is making her mark in the entertainment world. Here’s meeting the talented actress

Reeva Chaudhary

Reeva Chaudhary better known as the ‘rosogulla' girl from the popular ad film ‘Justmyroots' that aired during the India-Pakistan match at the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Smiling, she says, "I ate about 25 rosogullas to get the right expression for the ad. While eating them, I simply closed my eyes to relish it as it is my favourite. And the next thing I know is that it has become viral".

Also, she is happy that the intercity food delivery service platform will help her order her favourite foods from home-town Kolkata. She says, "I am a Bengali from Kolkata living in Mumbai. Now I don't have to manage my food cravings with the fare in Mumbai but order it directly from my home-town. In fact, I managed to get bhog ka khichdi during Durga Puja from Kolkata."
While she swears by her roots in home-town Kolkata, she is all agog with excitement while sharing her views on Mumbai. "This city has treated me so well that now I don't want to leave it. It is safe unlike the small towns of our country where women cannot dress the way they like or travel late in the night. Also, people are friendly here, even without a family around, you can manage just fine. Besides that, Mumbai has a certain energy to it as everybody is seeking something and that brings in a lot of momentum."

Speaking about her aspirations, she says, "I always wanted to get into acting. So I landed up in Mumbai and did some ad-shoots and luckily even bagged a television show on Zee TV called ‘Hamari Bahu Silk."

Right now, she has her hands full with 2 web series and modelling assignments to boot "I am the in-house model for Juliet Apparels. Also, my web series will go on floors soon. I am busy with workshops which are in full swing. "

She finds the OTT medium interesting, "Movies are shot for just 3 hours of footage while web series are stretched over 10-15 episodes, so there's a better chance to develop your character. Television on the other hand is far too stretched and takes up a lot of time as it is a regular grind. This hampers one's performance. With OTT becoming popular with the lockdown, there are interesting times ahead for us."

Does that imply that she is not interested in feature films? She answers candidly, "Movies are something you need to push really hard and yet the results may be nil. While one may do several auditions, it's tough to get a good break for an outsider from the industry. One needs to be really well-connected in the industry to get a good break. Anyways, I sincerely believe that kismet se zyaada aur waqt se pehle kisi ko kuch nahi milta" she says with an air of wisdom.

In the same vein she continues, " I don't regret anything but I am making the most of what I have got. At the end of the day, everyone is on his/her own. This lockdown has taught me to be my best friend. I was all alone and was my own companion. It taught me to be self-reliant. Atmanirbhar is the word, " she signs off with a smile.
