Forest officials rescue Himalayan bear cub in Arunachal Pradesh

A one-month-old Himalayan black bear cub was rescued by the Deomali Forest Division, an official said on Sunday.

Deomali Forest Division range forest officer (RFO) Diwang Lowang said the bear cub was spotted near an agricultural field on Saturday.

One Pongpong Ruttum of Borduria village reported the matter to the department officials, who responded swiftly and took the cub into custody.

Lowang said the cub was provided proper care and was subsequently handed over to a veterinarian at the Centre for Bear Rehabilitation and Conservation, Pakke Kessang, Dr Panjit Basumatary, for further care and rehabilitation.
