Didn't wanna rush it. Now she thinks I'm disinterested

Yesterday I went on a second date with a really nice girl (beautiful, intelligent, etc etc) which I thought went quite well but when I sent her a message afterwards to say thanks I got no response (normally she responds within a couple of hours)

Dear Diana,
Yesterday I went on a second date with a really nice girl (beautiful, intelligent, etc etc) which I thought went quite well but when I sent her a message afterwards to say thanks I got no response (normally she responds within a couple of hours). We share a lot of the same interests (books/ political views) and there didn't seem to be a problem with conversation but I think maybe I messed up by not kissing her goodbye.

She has recently come out of a long term relationship so I didn't want to get physical too soon. However now I feel like I've blown my chances with her by not making my feelings obvious enough and maybe appearing disinterested! This is really troubling, as I'm pushing thirty and never seem to get beyond one/two dates with girls I like. Any suggestions for recovering this situation? And not getting in a similar mess in future?

Dear Friend,
Sometimes text messages (assuming that's what you sent) don't get delivered. Just send her a message asking if she got the message you sent her a few days ago. Perhaps then, she will reply.u00a0 Then phone her after the next few days and just ask if she would like to go out again sometime. Add that you had a great time last time you went out. if she is interested then she will meet up with you again.

If she agrees, this time, smile lots, look into her eyes, try to incorporate some physical contact, be it an arm around her weist as you cross the road, touching her hand as you talk and of course the kiss good-bye! You don't have to sleep together just because you share a parting kiss. Hope this helps!

If we're virgins, can we get STDs from oral sex?

Dear Diana,
I am a 21-year-old guy. I have a question, which has been on my mind for a long time, and I have decided to just ask it outright. Can you get STDs from giving and receiving oral if both of you have never had any kind of sex before?

Name withheld on request

Dear friend,
It's possible to get some kinds of STDs from giving or receiving oral sex. People who suffer from gum bleeding diseases such as gingivitis put anyone they have oral sex with at extreme risk of contracting very serious STD such as HIV.u00a0

I have a noisy tummy

Dear Diana,

I have a big problem. My stomach makes noises all the time in class. The cause of it is because I worry about it growling so much that then it does it. When the classroom gets quiet I start getting nervous. It's so embarrassing because others hear it. I can't concentrate on anything. I didn't use to worry about this until one time in class my stomach made a noise and this boy joked about it. When I'm not worrying about my stomach it doesn't do anything. What can I do before I cause myself a panic attack?

Nikhat

Dear Nikhat,
It sounds like gas. The best thing is to not eat or consume anything that may cause gas. Ask your family doctor if there's anything that you can do to get rid of the gas, like an antacid. Or if you prefer, go to a specialist and get to the root of the problem. Clearly this is something that is affecting you a lot.u00a0 So go and find out and don't be afraid to ask your parents or your doctor.
