After Air India Flight AI171 crashed near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, Indian airline IndiGo issued a travel advisory alerting passengers about disruption in flight services following the tragic incident.

Taking to social media platform X, the airline wrote, "Following the incident near Ahmedabad Airport and the resulting runway restrictions, flight operations are impacted."

The statement also mentioned that if a passenger's flight is affected, they may rebook or claim a full refund via the IndiGo website.

Further expressing grief and requesting understanding during this difficult time, the airline wrote, "Our thoughts are with the families of those affected. We seek your kind understanding, as these are truly challenging times for everyone."

According to PTI, IndiGo flight 6E-318, which departed from Kolkata at 1:49 pm on Thursday, returned to Kolkata at 2.52 pm after being airborne, an Airports Authority of India (AAI) spokesperson in Kolkata said. This was due to the closure of Ahmedabad airport following the crash.

As per the latest update, the airport is now fully operational. Sharing a post on X, Ahmedabad Airport wrote, "All flight operations at #AhmedabadAirport have resumed. For the latest flight information, please stay connected with your airline and our official updates."

The London-bound Air India Flight AI171 carrying 242 passengers and cabin crew crashed near the Ahmedabad airport minutes after taking off at 1:38 pm on Thursday.

According to the Air Traffic Control in Ahmedabad, the pilot had issued a 'Mayday' distress call, signifying a full emergency, soon after takeoff.

Confirming the incident through a post on X, Air India wrote, "Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest on https://airindia.com and on our X handle."

In a follow-up post, the airline informed that the flight was carrying 242 people, which included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals.
