Three questions with Underground House DJ Pete Bones

Mumbai Guide, DJ Pete Bones, Electronic Dance Music, EDM, Underground House DJ, interview

Q. How did you begin with Electronic Dance Music (EDM)?
A. Well, I don't consider what I play as EDM (laughs). That's an acronym invented in the US and has become synonymous with the throwaway Dance music that is played in Las Vegas, and at various music festivals by some of the more commercial DJs. The music I play is Underground House music, and I first got into it in 1988 when I visited Ibiza as a teenager and heard the origins of what became Acid House in the UK in the late 1980s and early '90s.

Q. This will be your first performance in India. What are you expecting from it? Are you prepping differently?
A. It will be my first gig in India, and as such I'm not sure what to expect. I have made a lot of friends in India, more specifically, in Mumbai through social media and am mostly looking forward to meeting those people for the first time. As far as preparation goes, no not really I play what I love, and let's just say I'm always prepared to get a little twisted if everyone else is.

Q.Which is your favourite track (one that you know Indian audience will love too)?
A. That's an impossible question to answer as there are so many for so many different moods. Over the years, my favourite producers have included Leftfield, Underworld and more recently, Crazy P and Metronomy. From my own tracks, the latest one, Snow Globe is a current favourite and I'm hoping the audience here loves it to.
