What if your body has been speaking to you all along, and you simply haven't been listening? The Listening Club's upcoming workshop, Blurred Lines: Let Our Bodies Lead, invites participants to slow down and reconnect with themselves through gentle movement, reflective writing and playful group activities at Chimbai Village Theatre. Hosted in collaboration with movement facilitators Aditi Deepak and Ferangiz Hozdar, the beginner -friendly session is designed to encourage presence, trust and self-expression without choreography or the need to perform.

Founded seven months ago by Ikroop Nijjar, the club creates spaces where people practise active listening through conversations and shared experiences rather than judgement or advice. Nijjar says the latest session expands that idea by shifting the focus inward. "We've explored silence, voices and even photographs as ways of listening, but we haven't explored what it means to listen to our bodies. Most of us are constantly in our heads, while our bodies are communicating with us all the time," explains Nijjar.

Participants engage in an open conversation at a session

To help participants overcome self-consciousness, the organisers will transform the theatre into an intimate, dimly lit space that allows people to move freely without feeling observed. "We're creating an environment where people don't feel like everyone is looking at them. When the lights are low, the question becomes: if no one is watching me, how do I choose to relate to my own body?" she elaborates.

Moving away from the usual practise of teaching dance or movement techniques, the three-hour session encourages participants to notice physical sensations before attaching labels to them. "If there's one thing I hope people take back, it's curiosity. We often rush to label what we're feeling. Instead, can we pause, listen and ask ourselves whether the stories we tell ourselves are still true?" Nijjar adds.

Through movement, reflection and shared presence, the workshop hopes to help participants rediscover a quieter conversation - the one between the mind and the body.
