Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Kubbra Sait, Imran Khan, and Masaba Gupta were among the familiar faces at a star-studded evening at a BKC venue on Thursday. But you'd be forgiven if your eyes weren't on them. The impeccable craftsmanship and striking designs on display at the preview of India Design ID 2026 offered plenty of reasons to look elsewhere. With âThe Deep Fathom' as its guiding theme this year, the fair brings together influential design voices from India and international masters to shine a light on everything design.

If you're dropping by for a quick visit, head straight to Undercurrents, the special project curated by fair director Misha Bains. "Bringing together six distinct design practices, the exhibition places works from different moments in their journeys in dialogue, revealing how an idea returns, a material opens up new possibilities or an encounter with craft changes the direction of a work. We hope visitors leave with a closer understanding and a renewed curiosity about the objects around them," Bains says.
Netherlands-based Inderjeet Sandhu investigates how migration, colonial histories and cultural exchange shape the objects and spaces we call home
At SHED, Priyanka Shah works with materials including wood, stone, glass and pigment, collaborating with specialist makers to create objects where function meets tactile detail

Beyond its exhibits and collectibles, the fair will host a symposium featuring some of the biggest names in design.

Catch a keynote by Pritzker Prize-winner Shigeru Ban, whose pioneering work challenges conventional ideas of building materials. Centred on his projects such as his paper-tube shelters for disaster-hit communities, Ban will discuss why sustainability must be central to architectural thinking.
