What if learning about waste management felt less like a lecture, and more like solving a mystery? That's the idea behind Kachra Killer, an interactive experience curated by Community Karkhana - a community group, ScrapJi - a recycling start-up, Reverie, an event and experiences group, and tRNA, a story learning platform. is set to take place at Cafe Snickerdoodle in Kalyan.

The event invites participants to step into the shoes of detectives investigating a fictional murder where waste holds the key to cracking the case. Taking inspiration from games like Mafia and Insider, the session will use storytelling, teamwork and problem-solving to explore what happens to our waste after it leaves our homes.
For Henik Gala (left), COO of ScrapJi, the gaming format is a way to connect with younger audiences who may find waste management difficult or uninteresting. He believes that practical, hands-on experiences create stronger awareness and help people build lasting habits. "We live in the age of games," he says, adding that game-fying environmental issues make them easier to understand and engage with.
The organisers hope to reach people who want to manage their waste responsibly but are unsure where to begin. By turning learning into an immersive experience, Kachra Killer aims to show that responsible waste management can be simple. The initiative builds on the venture's work in diverting more than 600 tonnes of dry waste from landfills to recycling channels. Through this session, the team hopes to encourage participants not only to take responsibility for their own waste but also inspire others in their communities to do the same.
