Photographers who have long made the Maximum City their muse will sing a chorus of clicks and snaps in South Mumbai tomorrow. Led by Meghna Girohtra, the Mumbai IGers group will wait for the sun to set before charting a trail along some of the most loved landmarks.

"Mumbai at night is nothing like the bustling megacity we are accustomed to. The architecture and history of the city stand out, lit by its streetlights," says Girohtra.

Frame for all

Meghna Girohtra reminds us that the streets of Mumbai are for everyone. The walk is free for anyone with an eye for a great frame. "I don't understand how one can charge exorbitant amounts for guided walks," she rues.

"Many women feel uncomfortable post-midnight, when they are accosted by pedestrians simply for clicking a photo," she reveals. Girohtra is now focusing on creating a safe space for women to thrive in the field of photography.

Ace lensman and mid-day's Photo Editor Rane Ashish shares tips for photographers

>> If you are serious about your passion, always carry a camera along; you never know when you might stumble upon a great frame

>> Start with basic equipment if you can't afford the latest cameras. Remember, photography can always be learnt on a budget.

>> Don't be afraid to stand out. The most obvious angle that everybody seems to be chasing is not always the best. Look around you, and find a newer angle that tells a different story.

>> Sometimes, you might not get the right frame even after all the effort. Take it as a learning experience.
