Norwegian football superstar Erling Haaland continues to be one of the most followed sportspersons on social media. In fact, the footballer has become something of a living meme, from his on-field exploits, to the hilarious videos.
Recently, he took social media by storm after shearing off his signature flowing blonde locks for a dramatic buzz cut as the 26-year-old opened the Premier League season. The reaction created expected hype. But does the buzz cut suit everyone? Hairstylist Elvis Vaz decodes the look.

>> There is no one single buzz cut: The sides can be taken short while retaining length on top, depending on the face and head shape. It is different for everyone.
>> Use facial hair strategically: Stubble or a beard can accentuate the jawline, but is not essential
>> Keep products minimal: For very short hair, a little oil mixed with water can create a wet finish. Avoid waxes and pomades, which can sit on the scalp.
>> Colour carefully: Darker colour can add definition when the scalp is visible, while blonde can create a dramatic transformation when it complements the skin tone

Britney Spears and Demi Moore are proof that a buzz cut can be every bit as striking on women as it is on men, sometimes, less hair simply means more attitude. With less hair framing the face, the eyes, eyebrows, cheekbones and jawline get highlighted.

The key is to work with an individual's face and head shape rather than replicate a celebrity look. Statement earrings, a bindi, defined eyes or a bold lip can add femininity, edge or glamour.
Ultimately, the buzz cut is about making the face, personal style and confidence the focal point.
As liberating as a fresh cut sounds, several factors come into play before going for a buzz.
>> Face shape matters: With little hair framing the face, the jawline, eyes, eyebrows, ears and neckline become much more prominent
Channing Tatum
>> Round faces: These can work particularly well when the cut is kept slightly square to visually elongate the face
Zayn Malik
>> Square faces: These can be softened by rounding the sides and top rather than emphasising existing angles
Chris Evans
>> Long or oval faces: These need more caution, as an extremely short cut or beard can make the face appear even longer
>> For a reset: A drastic cut works when you want a fresh, youthful look
>> Assess before cutting: A stylist should check the head shape, hair density and facial proportions before reaching for the clippers
>> Consider your lifestyle: The length should work with your personality and lifestyle
>> Know the upkeep: A buzz cut ideally needs reshaping every 15-20 days, as new growth can quickly make it look untidy
Don't copy celebrities blindly: A buzz that works on a celebrity might not suit every face
