Mumbai Police have arrested a 62-year-old man for allegedly sexually abusing two 16-year-old girls and raping a woman on the pretext of giving them jobs, an official said on Monday, reported the PTI.

Two cases have been registered against the accused at the Sakinaka and MIDC police stations, the official said.

The suspect, who was arrested in the Chakala area on July 5, is a close aide of a BJP leader, it was stated, as per the PTI.

According to the police, the accused allegedly sexually abused a 16-year-old girl and her friend on the pretext of getting them a job. He held the girls captive in his house in Chakala, where he tortured and took objectionable pictures of them, according to the PTI.

He also allegedly raped a woman in Andheri using the same ruse, the official said, adding that both offences took place this month.

Following his arrest, the police searched Lodha's properties in Jalgaon, Jamner, and Pahur and seized a laptop, pen drive and some electronic items, he said.

The accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The MIDC police took Lodha's custody recently after he was remanded into judicial custody in the POCSO case registered against him at Sakinaka police station, the official added, the news agency reported.

Airhostess alleges rape by colleague in Maharashtra's Thane district; accused held

An airhostess was allegedly raped by her colleague at his home in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Sunday, reported the PTI.

Based on a complaint, the police arrested the accused, a resident of the Mira Road area, on Friday in connection with the assault that took place on June 29, an official said.

An FIR has been registered under sections 64 (rape), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the 25-year-old accused, said senior inspector Dhiraj Koli of the Navghar police station, according to the PTI.

He said that the 23-year-old woman and her colleague, a fellow crew member, had returned to the city after a work trip to London on June 29.

"Upon their return to Mumbai, the accused allegedly took the victim to his house, where he molested and raped her," the official said, as per the PTI.

Local police were probing the case further, he said.
