Mumbai Police on Tuesday said that it has filed a case against the driver of a vehicle who crashed one of the security car of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar in Juhu area of western suburbs.
According to the police, the Juhu Police in Mumbai have taken into custody the driver of a speeding car and registered a case of rash and negligent driving, the ANI reported.
The incident occurred when a speeding car rear-ended an auto rickshaw in Juhu, causing it to overturn and crash into a vehicle from the security entourage of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar.
According to Mumbai Police, two people were reportedly injured in the collision involving the Mercedes, the auto rickshaw and another car, as per the ANI.
Police said that a case has been registered against the accused, identified as Radheshyam Rai, under Sections 281, 125(A) and 125(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Meanwhile, videos from the accident site have surfaced online, showing local residents assisting the authorities in safely pulling an injured man from the wreckage.
The auto rickshaw driver also sustained injuries and his condition is reported to be serious, according to his brother, as per the ANI.
"The incident took place at around 8.30 pm. My brother's rickshaw was completely destroyed and his condition is serious. Our only request is that my brother receives proper medical treatment, the required medicines, and compensation for the damaged rickshaw," said Mohammed Sameer, the brother of the autorickshaw driver, while speaking to ANI.
Akshay Kumar has not yet commented on the incident. Police said further details are awaited.
According to the police, the incident occurred at around 8 pm on Gandhigram Road near the ISKCON Temple.
Juhu Police are investigating the matter further.
According to police officials, at around 8 pm near Gandhigram Road, actor Akshay Kumar was travelling towards the ISKCON Temple when his pilot car collided with a moving auto rickshaw.
DCP Dixit Gedam of Zone 9 on Monday said, "Actor Akshay Kumar was not present when the incident occurred, and it was his pilot car. The auto rickshaw driver sustained minor injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. We are investigating the matter further."
