The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC), Bandra unit on Monday produced advocate Rajkumar Rajhans, the mastermind of the MD factory in Kolhapur, before the Killa court, which remanded him in police custody till November 25. The ANC has learnt that the accused broke his mobile and threw it in the Bandra creek to evade being traced as well as hide information from the police in the event of arrest. Cops are now trying to trace the phone.

A police officer told mid-day, "We can get many important clues from Rajhans's mobile. We will go to Bandra Creek and find his mobile." During interrogation, cops also learnt that Rajhans learnt to make MD using the internet. The police told the court that Rajhans bought all the machines and chemicals from Kolhapur and Belgaum in Karnataka.

Rajhans's name surfaced after cops, on November 14, arrested a female drug peddler named Christina Francis, who had saved the number of her drug seller as ‘Sir', and upon verification, police found out that the number belonged to Rajhans. Following this, Rajhans was arrested from Malad on November 18. Cops also seized drug-related material worth R2.35 crore from his farmhouse in Kolhapur.

Rajhans's lawyer Kewal Barsagade told mid-day that Francis was earlier arrested by the police in a drugs case a year and a half ago and Rajhans was her lawyer at the time. "Francis was a client of Rajhans. It does not mean that Rajhans is also involved in the drug trade," he said.
