A 44-year-old man was arrested on murder charges after he allegedly rammed his motorcycle into another man following an argument in Nehru Nagar area of Mumbai, police said.
The incident took place at around 10.45 pm on August 12 near Triveni Bar in Vasant Nagar, Thakkar Bappa Colony.
According to the complaint, 21-year-old welder Hemant Kishor Balothiya and his friend Lalit Tungariya were involved in a heated argument with the accused.
Police said that after the argument, the suspect got on his motorcycle and drove at high speed towards Tungariya, allegedly striking him deliberately.
Tungariya suffered serious injuries to his head, abdomen and legs. He later died from his injuries.
Following a complaint by Balothiya, the Nehru Nagar Police registered a case on August 13.
The accused has been booked under Sections 103(1) (murder), 109(1), 281 (rash driving) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police have also invoked Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, relating to dangerous driving.
The accused was subsequently arrested and was being questioned as part of the investigation.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the argument and the alleged act of deliberately ramming the motorcycle into the victim.
Further investigation is underway.
