The items, recovered during investigations into house-breaking, theft, mobile theft, and other offences across various city police stations, included gold, 800 mobile phones valued at Rs 2.08 crore, and other materials, police said

The items those were returned included gold ornaments, a mangalsutra, and a large number of mobile phones

The distribution ceremony was held in Govandi, where Additional Commissioner of Police (Eastern Region) Dr Mahesh Patil handed over the recovered items to the beneficiaries

Many recipients expressed satisfaction and gratitude towards the police for their efforts in recovering and returning their valuables

Officials said that similar drives will continue in the future to ensure the prompt return of recovered property and enhance community engagement across Mumbai
