Ghatkopar resident, who had suffered critical injuries to his head, becomes latest victim of July serial terror blasts
Even as Mumbai tries to move on after the July 13 terror attacks, the death of another injured, Chandrakant Vankar, has take the death toll up to 26. Forty two year-old Vankar, a Ghatkopar resident, succumbed to his injuries last morning at Harkisondas Hospital at Charni Road.
Vankar had suffered critical head injuries at the Opera House blasts on July 13, and had been admitted to the ICU. He was taken to JJ Hospital at Byculla for the post-mortem and his body was later handed to his family.
Doctors said, "He was brought here in a critical state and died around 6.30 am. He had been operated on several times, but the results didn't change much. He had suffered critical injuries to his brain and also had several injuries on his right leg. He was unconscious ever since, and had been admitted to the ICU."
Harkisondas Hospital had admitted 29 victims after the 13/7 blasts, out of which seven are still recuperating, three are in the ICU, sixteen have been discharged and three have dead, including Vankar.
