The nation wide strike of autos, taxis and buses has failed miserably in Mumbai resulting in calling off the strike.

The impact was minimal in the morning and as the day progresses, there has been a regular inflow of public modes of transport on road.

The strike was supposed to begin on Wednesday midnight but there have been no diruptions till morning. The auto rickshaws across the eastern and western suburbs were functional.

Most of the drivers were clueless about the strike as major unions in Mumbai have refrained from participating claiming that there is no harm even if some laws are being changed.

The BEST buses which was also supposed to participate in strike, came out well on roads. "There has been 82% turnout of buses on road," said H Gophane, spokesperson, BEST.

The undertaking had already issued a strict warning against the participation of their staff in this strike. Meanwhile the taxi and auto rickshaw unions had already clarified that they would not be participating in this strike.
