The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Monday announced its second list of 27 candidates for the forthcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, further firming up its slate for the civic polls.

The party had unveiled its first list of 37 candidates on Sunday. With the latest announcement, the total number of candidates declared by the NCP for the BMC elections 2026 has reached 64.

The second list features candidates across multiple wards, reflecting a mix of experienced faces and new entrants. The candidates named in the list are: Khadija Ismail Makwana (Ward 66), Dr Manisha Chaudhary (Ward 84), Sangeeta Vaje (Ward 105), Ruksar Anjuma Mustaqeer Khan (Ward 110), Manisha Rahate (Ward 119), Jahida Siraj Ahmed (Ward 124), Adv Shabana Rashid Sheikh (Ward 134), Vandana Gautam Kamble (Ward 151), Neha Bhagwanrao Rathod (Ward 156), Reema Devi Singh (Ward 163), Prakash Gyandev Chaudhary (Ward 166), Muskan Sameer Sheikh (Ward 187), Mangesh Bansode (Ward 208), Shakeer Ansari (Ward 211), Faran Farid Ansari (Ward 78), Shivaji Vinayak Khadtale (Ward 104), Deepa Anant Shete (Ward 112), Shabna Anwar Sheikh (Ward 122), Kanchan Prashant Bade (Ward 129), Shabbir Siddique Khan (Ward 145), Ashish Gadkari (Ward 154), Vidya Navinkumar Shilwant (Ward 155), Ashish Mahadev Mane (Ward 159), Satish Yadav (Ward 164), Rehana Arif Sayyed (Ward 179), Sarah Dere (Ward 192), and Harshala Harshad Surve (Ward 209).

The candidate lists have been released by NCP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Sunil Tatkare as the party steps up preparations for the high-stakes civic polls in Mumbai.

The BMC elections 2026 are expected to witness intense multi-cornered contests, with major political parties accelerating candidate announcements and campaign activities across the city.

BMC elections 2026: 401 nominations received so far ahead of Dec 30 deadline

Meanwhile, a total of 357 nomination papers were filed on Monday, a day before the submission process closes for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, taking the cumulative tally so far to 401.

The BMC stated that nomination papers will be accepted between 11 AM and 5 PM on Tuesday.

Of the 357 nominations filed at 23 Returning Officers' offices across the city, the highest 29 papers were filed at K-west and P-North wards.

In the first four working days, just 44 nominations were filed across the city, according to a release.

A total of 1,225 nomination forms were distributed on the fifth day of the nomination process across 23 returning officer (RO) offices in the city since December 23, when the poll schedule was declared.

Over five days, a total of 11,568 nomination forms have been distributed, the BMC added.

The maximum forms on a single day were distributed on December 23 (4,165), followed by December 24 (2,844), December 26 (2,040), December 27 (1,294), and December 29 (1,225).

BMC elections 2026 for 227 seats will be held on January 15 and votes will be counted on the following day.
