Yogita Koli clinches ladnslide victory in BMC election 2026. Representational picture
Amid the ongoing BMC elections 2026 results, Yogita Sunil Koli (BJP) on Friday won with a landslide victory, bagging 37,831 votes, which is 67.81 per cent of the total votes polled in her ward.
BJP candidate Koli was elected from ward 46, corresponding to Malad West (Liberty Garden). Koli's winning margin is a whopping 21,717 votes. Whereas the runner-up in her ward, Snehita Sandesh Dehalikar from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), only managed to bag 16,114 votes.
Notably, the contest in this ward was a two-candidate fight, making the mandate even more decisive. In this straight contest, Yogita Sunil Koli secured a historic win, defeating her lone rival by a massive margin.
Speaking at midday on Friday evening, Koli said, "I want to thank my party and Deva Bhau (Devendra Fadnavis) for putting their faith in me and giving me an opportunity for the second time to contest elections."
She further added, "I want to thank my voters with immense love, who have shown a lot of trust towards me. The real work begins now. My voters have so many expectations, and I want to make sure to work relentlessly."
Hinting that the Shivshakti alliance will come out victorious after the counting concludes, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday said that the real picture will emerge only at midnight when the current indications will change after all votes are counted.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut also said that the BJP may have performed well in the rest of Maharashtra. However, as counting will continue until midnight, the current trends showing defeat of the Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS alliance will reverse.
The Congress, which contested in alliance with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, is ahead in 24 wards, and others in eight. Taking a dig at Shiv Sena, Raut said the Eknath Shinde-led party has not been able to do anything outside Thane.
The Rajya Sabha member, while talking to the media, said, "The way it is being shown that Shiv Sena (UBT) is trailing behind... Current figures (showing the BJP-Shiv Sena victory in BMC polls) will reverse, as it's a neck-and-neck fight, and counting of votes is ongoing," as cited by news agency PTI.
Sanjay Raut further said that the real picture about the BMC election 2026 results will become clear only at midnight.
