A fire broke out at the entrance security check cabin of the Vidhan Bhavan premises in south Mumbai on Monday afternoon, officials said, adding that the blaze was now under control.
Rahul Narvekar, the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly, confirmed the incident and said that the fire is now under control.
According to Rahul Narvekar, the cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit in the scanning machine installed at the security check.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade and civic officials has rushed to the spot following the incident.

No reports of any injuries has been reported in the incident as of now, officials said.
