An 81-year-old man from Mira-Bhayandar has approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking intervention in a decades-old dispute over a 2,810-square-metre plot of land, alleging that forged documents were used to claim the property.
Asgarali Vohra, who claims to have been fighting for his land rights for nearly 40 years, recently met the Prime Minister and submitted a letter seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter.
The allegations were made in a press note issued on September 10, which also raised questions over the functioning of the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation's town planning department and the revenue administration.
According to Vohra, he purchased the land at Navghar Road in Bhayandar East in 1989 through a registered agreement. The property falls under old Survey No. 240, now Survey No. 185, Hissa No. 6.
Vohra has claimed that he never sold or transferred the approximately 2,810-square-metre property to anyone.
He alleged that around 2011, forged documents relating to the land were prepared in alleged collusion with Swayam Builders. An FIR was registered in 2015, but Vohra claimed that the CID report was received only in 2026, nearly 11 years later.
He has questioned the delay and alleged that "invisible forces" within the civic and revenue departments may have influenced the process.
The complainant further alleged that the property was divided into two portions without his knowledge, with one portion allegedly shown as being occupied by Swayam Builders and the other by Seven Eleven Constructions.
The press note also alleges that a counter-case was registered against Vohra in 2025 without giving him prior notice or an opportunity to present his side.
The allegations involve Seven Eleven Constructions, associated in the press note with BJP leader and MLA Narendra Mehta, and Swayam Builders. The claims have not been independently verified.
Vohra has alleged that he was forced to repeatedly visit revenue offices, the municipal corporation and police stations while pursuing his claim.
He has now sought the Prime Minister's intervention and demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged forgery, land transactions and the role of officials and private entities.
The press note has also questioned whether the Mira-Bhayandar civic and revenue authorities are functioning under political pressure and why action was allegedly not taken against those accused of preparing forged documents.
Whether the Centre will order a CBI inquiry into the allegations remains to be seen.
