The Central Railway has announced special traffic and power blocks on the South-East lines between Kalyan and Badlapur over two consecutive nights, May 1-2 and May 2-3, to carry out overhead equipment (OHE) infringement removal work on the third and fourth lines.
According to railway officials, the first block will be undertaken between 1:40 am and 3:40 am on the night of May 1-2, covering the up and down South-East lines between Kalyan and Ambarnath, excluding both stations.
The second block is scheduled from 1:30 am to 3:30 am on the night of May 2-3. This block will affect the down South-East line between Ambarnath and Badlapur, excluding Ambarnath but including Badlapur station.
Officials said the work is part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving operational safety and efficiency on the suburban network.
Suburban train services between Kalyan and Badlapur will remain suspended during the block periods on both nights. Commuters travelling along this stretch have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
On the night of May 1, the last local train before the block will be the Badlapur-bound service departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 11:51 pm. Services will resume with the first Karjat-CSMT local departing Karjat at 3:35 am on May 2.
Similarly, on the night of May 2, the last train before the block will be the Karjat-bound local leaving CSMT at 11:30 pm. The first service after the block will again be the Karjat-CSMT local departing at 3:35 am on May 3.
Several long-distance trains will be diverted via the Karjat-Panvel route on both days due to the block. These include the Bhubaneswar-CSMT Konark Express, Visakhapatnam-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, and Hyderabad-CSMT Hussainsagar Express.
Passengers scheduled to board or alight at Kalyan will be accommodated at alternate stations, including Panvel and Thane, where these trains will make additional halts.
Railway authorities added that mail and express trains running behind schedule may be further regulated or diverted depending on operational requirements.
Officials emphasised that the blocks are necessary to remove OHE infringements and ensure the safe functioning of train services. While acknowledging the inconvenience caused to commuters, the railway administration has urged passengers to cooperate and make alternate travel arrangements during the affected hours.
