Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of Central Railway rescued passengers from life-threatening situations and assisted expectant mothers during emergency childbirth under ‘Operation Jeevan Raksha' and ‘Operation Matrushakti'.

Central Railway RPF has been preventing accidents involving passengers attempting to board or alight from moving trains. In one such incident on December 26, 2025, Assistant Sub-Inspector Narsingh Kanaujia noticed a woman passenger trying to board a slow local train that had already started moving. The passenger slipped into the gap between the platform and the train, following which Kanaujia immediately rushed forward and pulled her to safety, averting a potentially fatal accident. The passenger was later counselled and guided to continue her journey safely.

In another act of humanitarian service, Central Railway RPF personnel assisted a woman passenger in delivering a baby onboard a running train under Operation Matrushakti. On December 30, 2025, the RPF received information about a medical emergency on Train No 22538 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Gorakhpur Kushinagar Express. Sub-Inspector LB Wagh, along with his team, rushed to the coach and found a pregnant woman experiencing labour pains.

Given the urgency of the situation and the running status of the train, the RPF team, with the help of a female co-passenger, safely conducted the delivery inside the general coach. Upon arrival at Nashik Road Station, doctors and medical staff conducted a preliminary examination of the mother and the newborn at the railway emergency room. Both were later shifted to a nearby government hospital for further medical care.

Central Railway has acknowledged the service rendered by Kanaujia and Wagh along with his team, praising their courage, quick thinking and commitment to passenger safety.

The railway administration reiterated its appeal to passengers to avoid boarding or alighting from moving trains, warning that such actions pose a serious risk to life. Central Railway RPF said it continues to remain committed to ensuring the safety, security and well-being of passengers across its network.
