The air-conditioned local train will function on electrically operated Automatic Door closure system
Central Railway's first air-conditioned EMU local train will run on Thursday, January 30. It will be flagged off from Panvel with Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi on video conference at CSMT. Angadi will also be inaugurating a host of other passenger amenities.
mid-day had highlighted in its January 4 issue that a number of AC trains had arrived in the city and the railways were unable to take a decision about them.
The train will be flagged off on Thursday afternoon from Panvel and will terminate at Thane. The inaugural train will be driven by motor woman Manisha Mhaske.

It will run as a regular train from January 31 with 16 trips on weekdays from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, the non-AC regular train will run and on Sundays/holidays the AC services will not be available as per the scheduled time-table.
Fixed at the height of 4,270 mm as compared to the 4,283 mm of the ones on Western Railway, the train has been customised for Central Railway, which has a large number of low-hanging bridges.
There are plans to get six AC local trains by March 2020 that will be introduced on the mainline between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kalyan and on the harbour line between CSMT and Panvel railway stations.
