The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will launch its âSchool Thik Karo' campaign from the village of its founder Abhijeet Dipke in Hingoli district on Independence Day. The campaign will begin at 7.30 am from Santuk Pimpri village, an official release said on Friday.
Talking to reporters after returning from Delhi, Dipke said, "I will commence the 'School Thik Karo' campaign in my village and request the sarpanch there to repair the local government school and make sure that the school has the basic amenities like benches and drinking water.''
CJP has formed teams that will visit villages and urge residents and sarpanchs to improve the condition of government schools with public participation.
When asked about a Tiranga Yatra rally organised here in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Dipke said, ''Such rallies should take place on the occasion of our Independence Day. But attention should also be given to education because we have been getting videos that show girls complaining that they have to walk seven kilometers to reach their schools and there is no road.''
Dipke had earlier appealed to sarpanchs to take the lead in repairing government schools and ensuring basic facilities for students. He also urged people to visit their children's schools and report any shortcomings to the CJP.
In a social media post, Dipke said, "Children in villages should not have to plead for basic school facilities after 80 years of Independence. As a country, we have failed rural kids in the worst possible way. The campaign aims to improve government schools in villages. Children should be able to carry the tricolour to school rather than sell it at traffic signals because of poverty."
