Three days after arriving in the city, a German national was robbed of 2,500 euros in cash (approximately Rs 2.12 lakh) by a domestic servant who was working at the place where she is residing.

As if the monetary loss wasn't painful enough, the 29-year-old woman is now experiencing the high handedness of the Versova police, who have put her case on the back burner, stating that they don't have the time to investigate her case.

The German woman identified as Sabina Jacqueline (29), had arrived in the city on February 10 and took shelter at a close friend's house in Versova. On February 13, the 3,100 euros stashed in her purse went missing. However, the next morning the house help, identified as Raju, approached her and told her that he found 600 euros in the dustbin.

Suspecting something amiss, the owner of the house confronted Raju and began questioning him of the remaining amount. They then took him to the Versova police station, but Raju somehow managed to flee from the police station before the complaint was registered.

Jacqueline asked the police to trace Raju and gave them with his details, including his village address in Madhubani, Bihar. But, 13 days later, the cops haven't budged an inch to trace him, who is assumed to have fled to his native place.

"The police officers turned me away, saying that they did not have time to investigate the theft case," said Jacqueline. Taking note of her woes, a local BJP leader, Sanjay Bedia, has now written to the Mumbai police commissioner and the deputy commissioner of police requesting investigation into the case. "PI Ashok Pimple and the investigating officer refused to probe the case stating they don't have time," Bedia told this paper.

ACP says
"I will set up an inquiry into why there is negligence from the same police officer, against whom a similar grievance was registered by a businessman from Hyderabad. We are also constantly getting complaints against PI Pimple. We have appointed another officer to look into this case," said ACP Samadhan Dhanedar.
