Ten govinda participants have been admitted to two government hospitals for treatment after sustaining injuries during Dahi Handi 2026 celebrations, according to an update issued by the Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell on Saturday afternoon.

Four govindas admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital

Four govindas have been admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital for treatment.

Jatin Patil, 30, sustained injuries to his waist and neck, while Jatin Kesari, 31, suffered a waist injury. Nandkishor Shelar, 65, sustained a head injury, while Nikhil Yadav, 35, suffered a minor injury to his left hand.

Six govindas undergoing treatment at District Government Hospital

Six other govinda participants have been admitted to the District Government Hospital.

Harsh Sharma, 21, and Ayush Gupta, 19, sustained minor back injuries, while Girish Chipkar, 23, suffered minor injuries.

Omkar Shinde, 25, sustained a fracture to his right leg. Aman Yadav, 21, suffered a minor injury to his right hand, while Amey Naik, 23, also sustained a minor injury to his right hand.

Thane disaster cell monitors injury reports

The update was issued by the Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell on Saturday afternoon as authorities continued to monitor injuries reported during Dahi Handi 2026 celebrations.

22 govindas injured across Mumbai, 21 discharged

Meanwhile, as many as 22 govindas were injured during Dahi Handi 2026 celebrations across Mumbai on Saturday, with one still undergoing treatment as of noon, according to information received from various government and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) hospitals, a Disaster Department update said.

According to the update, of the 22 injured, 21 have been discharged, while one remains under treatment. No untoward incident was reported.

Central and eastern suburban (CT) hospitals reported 20 injured Govindas, all of whom were discharged. Eastern suburban (ES) hospitals reported one injured person, who was also discharged.

Western suburban (WS) hospitals reported one injured govinda, who remains under treatment.

The figures were shared in a Govinda Festival Update issued at 12.30 pm on Saturday, based on information available until noon.

Overall, 22 injuries have been reported, with 21 people discharged and one under treatment.

BMC directs its hospitals to reserve beds for govindas, provide free treatment

The BMC directed all its healthcare facilities across Mumbai to be on standby.

According to a BMC spokesperson, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Prajakta Verma Lavangare has directed all municipal healthcare facilities, including major and peripheral hospitals, to keep reserved beds for govindas and also provide free treatment to them. The arrangements come as part of the annual preparations for the extensively celebrated festival.
