Satish Salian, father of the late Disha Salian, while issuing a press note on Thursday, has said that he will personally serve a fresh defamation notice to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray at his residence, Matoshree, in Mumbai on Saturday, September 19.

The press note highlighted that he will visit Thackeray's residence, along with his legal team at 4 pm on September 19 to serve the notice concerning two social media posts published by Thackeray on September 16.

The development comes amid renewed legal proceedings in the Disha Salian death case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR earlier this week following a Bombay High Court direction for a fresh investigation.

Aaditya Thackeray denies any link to Disha Salian

Thackeray has denied ever meeting or knowing Disha Salian and has described attempts to link him to the case as politically motivated and an effort at character assassination.

Satish Salian also said that he had taken serious objection to Thackeray's statements, particularly references to allegations concerning the case and the manner in which his pursuit of legal remedies has been portrayed.

Disha Salian's father also asserted that he had approached constitutional courts and investigating agencies and had placed documents and other material before the competent authorities. He maintained that portraying his legal efforts as being driven by political motives or personal enmity was defamatory.

The announcement follows reports that Salian has already initiated a Rs 500-crore defamation action against Thackeray and former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh over statements concerning his efforts to seek an investigation into his daughter's death. The earlier notice reportedly sought an apology, retraction, and compensation, with a seven-day period for compliance.

Satish Salian requests Mumbai Police for adequate security

Salian has also requested Police protection from the Mumbai Police Commissioner for himself and members of his legal team during the proposed visit to Matoshree.

The press note also mentions that Salian and his lawyers apprehend possible obstruction, intimidation, confrontation, or physical harm while travelling to serve the notice.

Salian said the request was being made as a preventive measure to ensure that the notice could be served peacefully and that no individual or political worker obstructed or threatened him or his legal representatives.

He further maintained that serving a legal notice was a lawful exercise of his rights and said he would continue to pursue legal proceedings concerning the circumstances surrounding his daughter's death.

Satish Salian's advocate writes a letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner

Ahead of Satish and his legal team's visit to Matoshree, Bombay High Court lawyer Devkrishna S. Bhambri while writing a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner said, "Considering the nature and sensitivity of the matter, there is a reasonable apprehension of obstruction, confrontation, and/or threats to the life, safety, and liberty of Mr. Salian and the accompanying advocates. Adequate police protection and preventive security arrangements are therefore requested at and around the venue during the visit."

The letter also noted, "This advance intimation may kindly be taken on record and treated as an urgent request for necessary preventive measures. It is submitted without prejudice to all rights and remedies available to my client and the accompanying advocates under law."
