Despite mounting costs, the family is considering continuing treatment at the current private hospital. “We’re not thinking long-term. Every hour is crucial. I can earn it again and rebuild whatever I lose. But right now, the only thing that matters is my baby surviving,” Ganesh said

Mumbai has once again proven that when it comes to humanity, no gesture is too small. On the second consecutive day, donations continued to pour in for the premature baby boy of the More family. Citizens from all walks of life came forward to support Ganesh More, the father of a critically ill newborn, who has been battling against all odds to ensure his baby receives life-saving treatment. As of Tuesday evening, Rs 51,500 had been raised in a single day through small and large donations from well-wishers touched by the family's story.

While the baby's condition is improving - he has gained weight and is still not fully out of danger. "He weighed just 1.1 kg at birth. Now he's up to 2 kg. Doctors have begun weaning him off the ventilator for 40 minutes at a stretch, twice a day. He's managing to breathe on his own during that time. They're taking things slowly, step by step, to build his strength," said Ganesh. His wife, Asmita, added, "He's now taking milk - though through tubes - and passing stool, which is a good sign." "It's not about how much you give, but why you give. No parent should have to choose between their child's life and affordability," said one anonymous donor who contributed Rs 5000.

His brother added, "This is our whole family's child, not just my brother's. We'll sell everything even our home if we have to - but we won't compromise on his treatment."

Several donors also contacted mid-day to verify if the money was reaching the right person. "With so many cyber frauds happening these days, I wanted to be sure. Even though the number was printed in the paper, I felt safer confirming. After learning no donor reported any fraud on day one, I felt confident enough to help," said another donor who contributed Rs 10,000.
