Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister, describing the occasion as a historic milestone. In a letter, CM Fadnavis praised Modi's leadership over the past 12 years and credited him with supporting several major infrastructure, irrigation, cultural and economic projects that have transformed Maharashtra.
Fadnavis said the country had completed 12 years of what he described as development, public trust and people's participation under Modi's leadership.
He said the achievement of becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister marked a significant moment in the nation's history and expressed gratitude on behalf of Maharashtra.
Fadnavis highlighted India's progress over the past decade, pointing to achievements such as poverty reduction, defence exports and the country's growing global stature.
He said the nation had moved confidently towards the vision of a "Viksit Bharat" and described Modi as a leader with global influence.
According to the Chief Minister, the transformation from a developing nation to a more confident and self-reliant India had been made possible through strong leadership and long-term planning.
The Chief Minister recalled the severe drought conditions faced by Maharashtra in 2015 and thanked Modi for approving a special assistance package for affected regions.
Fadnavis said the support enabled the completion of more than 100 irrigation projects, benefiting farmers in Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Maharashtra.
He added that the assistance helped strengthen the state's ability to tackle recurring water shortages and climate-related challenges.
The letter also credited Modi's support for several landmark infrastructure projects across Maharashtra, including Navi Mumbai International Airport, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Metro networks in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (Atal Setu), Mumbai Coastal Road, Samruddhi Mahamarg, Pune-Mumbai Expressway Missing Link Project and Vadhavan Port.
Fadnavis said many of these projects had remained pending for years but were completed or accelerated with the Centre's backing.
He said these initiatives reflected the philosophy of balancing development with preservation of cultural heritage.
Fadnavis highlighted the Centre's role in supporting industrial development projects such as Mega Textile Park in Amravati, Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), AURIC City in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dighi Port and
Green Steel Hub project in Gadchiroli.
He said these initiatives would strengthen Maharashtra's economy and create large-scale employment opportunities.
Concluding the letter, Fadnavis said Maharashtra's confidence in pursuing ambitious development goals stemmed from the continued support of the Prime Minister.
He expressed hope that the Centre would continue to guide and support the state's growth journey in the years ahead.
