A fire broke out at the Byculla Police Station in Mumbai on Saturday night, officials said, adding that no injuries were reported in the incident.
The blaze was brought under control, and officials said no further danger remained at the site, the officials said.
Firefighters reached the spot soon after the incident was reported and successfully extinguished the fire.
"Situation was under control. The police station was vacated after the blaze was reported," Deepak Sawant, Senior Police Inspector, Byculla Police Station said.
A level-1 (minor) fire broke out on the first floor of the G+1 Byculla Police Station building on Hansraj Marg in Byculla East on Sunday night, officials said.
According to preliminary information, the incident was reported to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) at 8.24 pm.
Teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, BEST, Mumbai Police and the local ward office were deployed to manage the situation.
The fire appears to have been caused by a short circuit, a police officer said.
Officials said the exact cause will be confirmed after a detailed investigation.
No injuries have been reported in the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be officially confirmed, and further investigation is underway.
Officials have started the necessary procedures to determine the circumstances that led to the fire.
