Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi 2026, the Panvel Municipal Corporation has introduced an online single-window system to streamline the process of obtaining permissions for Ganesh mandal pandals.
The civic body held a Ganeshotsav planning meeting on Tuesday (August 25) at Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Natyagruha under the guidance of Mayor Nitin Patil. The meeting focused on ensuring safe, orderly and smooth celebrations, with representatives of various Ganesh mandals raising concerns and suggestions.
A dedicated website for online pavilion permissions was also launched during the meeting.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Shete said the new system has been introduced to eliminate the need for mandal representatives to make repeated visits to different municipal offices.
Through the single-window system, Ganesh mandals can obtain No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the traffic police, local police stations, fire brigade and property department. Pavilion permissions will then be processed through Ward Committees A, B, C and D, as well as the Navade sub-division.
A dedicated portal, pandal.maharts.in, has been made available for applications, and mandals have been urged to submit their permission requests online.
Nodal officers will also be appointed in each ward committee to assist with the permission process after the required documents are submitted.
Mayor Nitin Patil said suggestions raised by Ganesh mandal representatives would be considered and addressed.
On traffic congestion in Panvel city, he said the civic administration would hold discussions with the business community to explore solutions.
Patil also said the technical feasibility of installing a lift at the immersion ghat near Koliwada would be examined.
To ease Ganesh idol immersion at Ballaleshwar Lake, he directed the civic administration to arrange an additional raft.
The municipal administration said its road repair machinery has been activated to address potholes across the city.
Additional Commissioner Shete said urgent repairs would be undertaken at locations requiring attention ahead of the festival to facilitate the movement of Ganesh idols and processions.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Mayur Bhujbal urged large housing societies to obtain the required permissions for Ganesh idol arrival and immersion processions.
He also advised public Ganesh mandals to install CCTV cameras around their pandal premises and deploy volunteers during night hours.
Bhujbal further said that festival displays should not contain objectionable content and that procession schedules should be finalised in accordance with police directions.
The planning meeting was attended by municipal officials, police personnel, CIDCO and MSEDCL representatives, elected representatives and members of various Ganesh mandals.
The civic administration said preparations are underway to coordinate public safety, traffic management, cleanliness, eco-friendly immersion arrangements and law and order during Ganeshotsav.
With the new online single-window system, the Panvel civic body aims to make the permission process more convenient for Ganesh mandals while ensuring better coordination among the departments involved.
