A shop selling hookah operating barely 50 metres from ITM College in Kharghar was raided by the Navi Mumbai Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), with officers seizing hookah products and smoking equipment.
During the raid, the police team recovered 300 containers of tobacco hookah flavours, six hookah pots, and four hookah pipes worth around Rs 91,000 from the shop.
"Such violations will be dealt with as per the law," said Sandeep Nigade, senior inspector, ANC, Navi Mumbai police.
Maharashtra implemented a strict, state-wide blanket ban on tobacco-based hookah parlours by amending the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) in 2018.
