Students and activists gathered at Azad Maidan on October 21 to form the âJustice for Sahil Joint Action Committee' and plan the next course of protests following the death of 20-year-old Sahil Wakode at IIT Bombay.
Previously, Wakode's father filed an FIR under sections relating to abetment to suicide and the SC/ST Atrocities Act. Meanwhile, members of the Aamchi Padhai Aamchi Ladhai group staged a silent protest outside Mumbai University.

âWhile a legal battle is being fought, we hope to nationalise the issue and plan out the next steps. Student groups and activists met today, but the further course will be charted out through meetings in the days to come'

âWe were nearly 10-15 members with campus students as well. We were protesting against the police violence we saw on Sunday during the protests at IIT Bombay. Even today, a few officials dressed in civil clothes came and clicked pictures of the protesting group'
At IIT Bombay, students continued their protest at a second site, dubbed "Justice Corner 2.0". Students said they had put out a call for solidarity, with peers from IIT Delhi and IIT Madras also expected to show support.

âWhile we tried to meet officials, we could not do so, and the objects we had kept at the protest site were also missing. Our laptops, medication, and room keys have gone missing from the site. The second leg of protests has continued at the administrative building, and it is an indefinite sit-in protest'
