Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday chaired the war room meeting during which he reviewed 30 major infrastructure projects and reiterated that every project must be completed within three years time.
In the meeting, Principal Secretary to the CM Ashwini Bhide delivered the presentation on the functioning and project status. The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Economic Advisor Pravin Pardeshi, and other senior bureaucrats. Fadnavis maintained that while designing smart urban plans, the focus should be on speed and accountability. Instructing that the project should not run for years, Fadnavis stated, "Attempts should be made to complete every project within three years."
The chief minister also took stock of 135 decisions taken in two earlier war room meetings and 33 other projects. Fadnavis had in April this year reviewed 18 ongoing projects and 15 new infrastructure proposals. It was during this meeting that the CM instructed officials about taking regular reviews of the work and completing them in the stipulated time frame.
Aware that connectivity is one of the major parameters when anyone buys a home, the CM emphasised creating integrated housing and transport, and suggested that officials should ensure housing projects are developed near the last stations of Metro lines in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). "This will ensure optimal use of public transport and reduce urban congestion," Fadnavis added.
Among the key projects reviewed were Metro lines (2B, 4, 5, 6, 7A, and 9), the Dharavi Redevelopment, the Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, the Borivli-Thane and Orange Gate-Marine Drive tunnels, the Uttan-Virar Sea Link, Pune Ring Road, the Bandra-Versova Sea Link, and power projects in Kudus and Shikrapur, among others. During the meeting, the CM also confirmed that residents of BDD chawls in Worli will soon be allotted flats.
